Fluff Your Stuff designer, Jill, wanted to transform this family’s basement into a cozy, kid-friendly oasis. The first thing she needed to do was completely change the furniture layout in the seating area to open it up to the bar area and create flow between the two spaces. The clients had a large sectional that presented an unusual challenge in this task. Eventually, Jill and the clients decided that they could reverse the seating entirely, and still keep the space functional (as the door they were blocking was not being used anyway). Jill’s next job was to incorporate the colors of the client’s favorite sport team, the Iowa Hawkeyes! To accomplish this, she decided to use the color yellow as a central tenet throughout the design. She even incorporated the sunny hue into custom curtain panels used to soften the pool table area. She was also able to feature the clients’ collection of colorful Broadway posters in the seating area, add some large-scale art for added drama, add a handy pub-height table , and create an organized nook for toys! Overall, the result was a colorful, inviting basement that felt twice as big as it did previously!
